Ballarat, Daylesford and Dragging children...

Had a busy week!!
On Sunday I went to Ballarat with my mate Rach to watch a photographer at work.

He was taking pics for a corsetier in a cute little retro-style cafe. He took a few pics of me too!
On the way there, Rach's tape-player/mp3 adaptor started mucking up, so she put a head cleaner tape in. Ah, yeah, not such a good idea. Tape jammed. Since she declared that there was no effing way she was driving to Ballarat with no music, we were pulled over by the side of the road trying to get this bloody tape out using all manner of gadgets. Like forks...

...and screwdrivers.

Finally got it out though. Success!!

Monday me and the kids went to Daylesford with my parents and sisters.

First "family" holiday we've ever had!
My Mum and Dad...

Me and my youngest sis Mirandah...

Dad and I...

Remind me never to take my 3 yo ANYWHERE EVER AGAIN though!! Other than that we had a good time. We had a good browse around the shops and I got a pretty cool vintage haul, which I'll post tomorrow. We went to the lookout tower, and mum and I freaked out as soon as we got to the top and came straight back down. We're not so good with heights!

Then we went to the convent and after my 3yo got a bad case of "floppy-child-syndrome" (wouldn't walk, much to the amusement of passers-by) and I got sick of dragging him (much to the amusement of passers-by)I cracked it, put him back in the car and went back to the caravan.
We went to Maldon and Castlemaine the next day and had a ride on the train. It was SUPPOSED to be the steam train, but it broke down and we had to have the diesel instead. The kids loved it. First time DS3 was quietly enraptured the whole time we'd been away. He fell asleep with his head on the windowsill after sitting there with his head halfway out the window the whole time haha!
Three cheeky monkeys...See no Evil, Hear no Evil, Speak no Evil (yes, I'm aware they're around the wrong way!) L-R Tane, Mirandah and Annie.

Outfit post of the day

Today was a crappy grey day so I thought I'd doll myself up to try and brighten something up around here! Everyone who saw me today asked why I was so dressed up. No reason! Just 'cos!
Me in my sexy curlers lol:

...and the finished product:

and photowhoring. What's new?

My outfir today. Did I mention I love op-shops? Whole outfit pretty much obtained from there!

Tomorrow I'm going to Ballarat with my photographer friend to watch a professional photog at work. His pictures are pretty fantastic, and I haven't had a girly roadtrip in years, so it should be fun!!

A week in review...

I've been meaning to try and blog everyday, but it's school holidays! No dice!

On Sunday I picked up a 1950's raadiogram from a guy off Freecycle. When I rang him he said it was in poor condition. It needs a good tidy up and a sand and a varnish, but I wouldn't say it was in poor condition? Maybe I'm an optimist LOL. I'm not sure if the turntable works, cos the plug is pretty shoddy, but the guy says it turns on, but it's missing a valve. I'm not that fussed if it doesn't work-it'll look nice in my house anyway!

During the week I modelled for my friend Rachel. I love her photos! She's a pretty rad photographer and I always have heaps of fun working with her. I'm just a big ol' photowhore who loves to dress up, what can I say? P.S. See if you can spot my awesome bruise!

Today I took my boys rollerskating for the first time. They lasted, oh, about 2.5 seconds before they wanted their shoes back on! They both went once around the rink and then they decided they'd rather watch. Oh well, I had fun!

Here's a photo of my lil girl in a dress that was mine when I was her age. How my mother kept clothes in such pristine condition is beyond me!

What have you all got planned for your weekend?

Stepping back into vintage

Two posts in one day...I'm on fire!!

I thought I'd do a little outfit of the day post. Now, having 3 young children, as much as I would love to be a fashionista every day of the week, the reality is most of the time I wear jeans and a nice top and flats or my converse sneakers. And more often than not I'll wear the same outfit a couple of days in a row. I'm attempting to change that. I figure that life's too short to not be glamourous!!! It's just trying to find outfits that are practical as well that is a bit of a problem. Ah well!!

I went to the op-shop (thrift store for my U.S. peeps) the other day with my loverly friend Steph:

and imagine my surprise when i found three vintage girdles for $2.50 each!!!!! I have been looking EVERYWHERE for vintage girdles, and they seem to be rare as hen's teeth. Even the ones on ebay are pricey at best. I know these are older ones as they have metal garter clips

This one has little bra-like hooks, then a zip over the top of them and sucks your stomach WAAAY in!! They don't make shapewear like this anymore!! This is also great as I am very shortwaisted. I am 5"4, but I have literally no waist. And since having kids my ribcage has broadened as well. I usually wear belts directly under my bust to try to make my torso look longer, but this girdle nipped me in right where i needed it!!

I also picked up this cute little cosmetic bag for $1

This is what I wore yesterday:

Shirt-from Best n Less

Pencil skirt-another find from the oppy for $5!! Supre brand.

Also wearing the longline girdle under this ensemble lol. I felt very gussied up!!

And walking through town I felt slightly overdressed. Oh well, pish posh!! I like to look nice!!

You won't catch me in tracksuits and uggboots unless I'm nearly dying. And even then I'm pretty sure I'd rather look fabulous haha!!

And here's today's outfit:

Op-shop tshirt

Polka-dot capris from ebay $3 yay!

(perfect fit, too!!)

Back on track...

It's been a little while since I blogged.

I'm back! LOL:)

I have a few things to share-

First up-some craftiness...felt food that I made for my friend's little girl, for her 3rd bday:

Second...my eldest boy broke his arm a few weeks ago. I thought for sure that if ANYONE was going to be the first to break a bone, it'd be my 3 year old. He's my terrorist child!

The boys thought, during "feral hour" that jumping from the top shelf of their desk onto their bed was a good idea. Until my DS5 then rebounded off the bed and onto the floor-straight onto his elbow and broke it. A good way to start the month!!

I took him to the doctors for a check-up yesterday-another two weeks in plaster. While the doctor was busy writing notes, DS5 turns to me and says (not so quietly), "Gee, he's a fast writer...y'know..for his age!"

I cracked up laughing, as did the doctor-he probably wouldn't have been much older than 30! He said to my son, "Geeze, you aren't bad, are you?!" LOL! Out of the mouths of babes eh?

Today is the last day of school for the term, so I'm looking forward to two weeks of sleep-ins! Could you sense the sarcasm dripping from that last sentence? :D

It's good to be back!!

New Tattoos

Last night I went to Melbourne to the Miss Australia Tattoo Pageant. Some of the work there was fantastic and got me somewhat inspired. A friend of a friend was actually a contestant there, and I think she had the best personality out of all the girls. They had a swimsuit section, q&a, the whole shebang, and you would think that in entering such a contest, the contestants would be ready to answer questions. Unfortunately, some of them couldn't string together a coherent sentence. Lucky for them their tattoos were nice to look at. Maybe making up for a lack of personality, perhaps?

Anyway, since the last time I blogged, I have gotten new ink. And am now thinking of getting some more...

Here are my newest additions:

It's hard to get a decent photo of your own feet LOL

After we came back from Melbourne, we went into town for a bit, and Jeff Martin from The Tea Party brushed past me!! I didn't realise he was playing where we were last night. My mother is jealous :D

Hmm, I've been thinking about getting stocking seams tattooed on my legs next. What do you guys think?
