Stepping back into vintage

Two posts in one day...I'm on fire!!

I thought I'd do a little outfit of the day post. Now, having 3 young children, as much as I would love to be a fashionista every day of the week, the reality is most of the time I wear jeans and a nice top and flats or my converse sneakers. And more often than not I'll wear the same outfit a couple of days in a row. I'm attempting to change that. I figure that life's too short to not be glamourous!!! It's just trying to find outfits that are practical as well that is a bit of a problem. Ah well!!

I went to the op-shop (thrift store for my U.S. peeps) the other day with my loverly friend Steph:

and imagine my surprise when i found three vintage girdles for $2.50 each!!!!! I have been looking EVERYWHERE for vintage girdles, and they seem to be rare as hen's teeth. Even the ones on ebay are pricey at best. I know these are older ones as they have metal garter clips

This one has little bra-like hooks, then a zip over the top of them and sucks your stomach WAAAY in!! They don't make shapewear like this anymore!! This is also great as I am very shortwaisted. I am 5"4, but I have literally no waist. And since having kids my ribcage has broadened as well. I usually wear belts directly under my bust to try to make my torso look longer, but this girdle nipped me in right where i needed it!!

I also picked up this cute little cosmetic bag for $1

This is what I wore yesterday:

Shirt-from Best n Less

Pencil skirt-another find from the oppy for $5!! Supre brand.

Also wearing the longline girdle under this ensemble lol. I felt very gussied up!!

And walking through town I felt slightly overdressed. Oh well, pish posh!! I like to look nice!!

You won't catch me in tracksuits and uggboots unless I'm nearly dying. And even then I'm pretty sure I'd rather look fabulous haha!!

And here's today's outfit:

Op-shop tshirt

Polka-dot capris from ebay $3 yay!

(perfect fit, too!!)

  2. I like the pencil skirt best. I've always liked them and have owned a few in my time. Not that my time is over, so I will probably own a few more ;-) God willing.
They make a woman look tailored and curvy at the same time.
